Milestone Moment: Steel Frame Completed at South Bristol’s 224 Youth Zone
The future of our new 224 Youth Zone in South Bristol took a major step forward this week as the steel frame structure of the new 224 Youth Zone was officially completed.
To mark the moment, some members of the Young People’s Development Group (Jayd and Kenzie) visited the site to see the progress up close and take a proud photo at the heart of a building they’ve helped to shape. Joining Jayd and Kenzie was Youth Worker, Levi Hodge who leads on Youth Voice at Youth Moves.
The completion of the steel frame marks a key milestone in the construction of 224 Youth Zone, which is set to open in 2026. Once finished, the state-of-the-art facility will provide thousands of young people with access to high-quality youth work, sports, creative activities, skills development and wellbeing support, all under one roof.
The Young People’s Development Group is made up of local young people from across South Bristol who have been involved the development of the new Youth Zone from day one.
From developing the branding with support from one of our Founder Patrons Lucent Agency to naming rooms and helping with the design of the interior, their involvement has played a crucial part in the development of the project.
The name was also chosen by young people after over 4000 young people voted for it. 224 stands for 2day, 2morrow, 4ever with the tagline:
“What you do today will affect you tomorrow and impact you forever”, signifying the Youth Zone’s ongoing commitment to being a reliable, long-term support system for young people in South Bristol and across the city.
“We really want this Youth Zone because Youth Moves is not only a big part of our lives but so many other young peoples’ too. Having this Youth Zone means thousands more young people will be able to access a variety of opportunities and support from Youth Workers that we have received from being at Youth Moves.”

224 is being developed by award-winning local charity Youth Moves, in partnership with national charity OnSide, and Bristol City Council. The facility will enable Youth Moves, who will run the centre, to support an additional 4,000 young people in Bristol, aged between eight and 19, or up to age 25 for those with additional needs.
